Passionate about photography since adolescence, he has produced more than 35,000 images over five decades, ranging from geological textures and landscapes to nocturnal scenes illuminated by his own hand-crafted lighting systems. Throughout his life, his photographic practice has embraced a wide range of subjects and genres — from portraits and architecture to documentary studies and natural forms — each contributing to the depth and versatility of his visual language. Since the 1970s, Rouzaud has designed and built his own projectors and custom light devices to reveal the hidden layers of stone, ice, and organic surfaces. In the 1980s, he began personal research on the focusing and decomposition of light, deepening his exploration of the complex dialogue between illumination and matter. His practice spans film processes and high-resolution digital photography, always producing his own prints to preserve the material presence of the image. Rouzaud has exhibited his work in various contexts and has developed artistic dialogues that reach far beyond his home country. His photographs have been nominated in international competitions, including the International Color Awards and the Black & White Spider Awards, recognizing the singularity of his artistic vision. Now aged 74, he is seeking professional representation on an international scale — to share and transmit a lifetime of photographic exploration to a wider global audience.
