"Biscayne Sunrise VII"
An eye for a good photo op, on my dog Coco's daily early morning walk, she brought me to this beautiful sunrise silhouette, Miami Beach, FL

H. Allen Benowitz, a self-taught award-winning cultural photographer, born and raised in Brooklyn, is a graduate from the Interboro Institute of Business in Manhattan. He migrated to Miami, in the 1960s, where he currently resides. As an evolution of his professional court reporting & legal videography career, the camera became a natural segue to photography. He has been featured in the ARTnews, The International Contemporary Artists art book, The Andrews Journal, SE Florida Style & Design, Marquis Who's Who, Art & Beyond magazines, and Musee du Louvre. His fine art photography has been exhibited in Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Paris & New York. ARTIST STATEMENT: Attracted to photography as a child, I enjoyed taking candid shots of my friends at the children’s home where I was raised; I was provided use of a darkroom. I am a self-taught cultural photographer, born and raised in Brooklyn, NY; graduate, Interboro Institute of Business, Manhattan; migrated to Miami, FL, in the 1960s. Considered a pioneer in my own court reporting profession, I was credited with performing the first videotape deposition, later founding the first videoconference network in the U.S. for the legal community. Capturing the spoken word and memorializing same on paper and disk, the camera became a natural segue and my eye for detail moved from the courtroom to the world. The trademark of my work is depth and texture. “Depth,” with a goal of drawing one’s eye into the picture; and “texture,” giving me a visceral pleasure, highlighting objects’ multifaceted shapes and shades of light. I spend summers and fall in Burnsville, NC. I consider myself a life sampler, which is reflected in the variety of my work. Inspired by a trip to the Orient, in addition to color, I rediscovered the dramatic effect of black and white images. I recently published my memoir, which received 5-star reviews: A Child of Silence-A Blessing in Disguise. It may be purchased on www.amazon.com https://www.ChihldofSilence-ABlessinginDisguise.com \
