Netherlands 1st Place - Outstanding Achievement Abstract Professional "Breathing Space" When looking up onto the facade of Omnizorg in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, I envisioned creating a column of air in between four walls. The colored repetition of the shutters is just irresistible. Geometric patterns, rhythm and lines are driving forces in my work. What fascinates me in photography is the interplay between realistic registration and geometric abstraction. This is why I often choose to photograph (elements of) architecture. Apart from its functions (housing, office space, contemplation), architecture also has a graphical, abstract dimension which is a primary focus of my photography. |
