Marc Santos
USA Nominee Abstract Professional "A Night Out" Going out to meet friends. Marc Santos (b. 1974) is a photographer whose work challenges conventional ideas of clarity and focus. Using blur, motion, and long exposure, he creates images that hold multiple moments in time, evoking movement, emotion, and ambiguity. Drawing inspiration from sources including John Coltrane and Edgar Degas, Santos employs techniques such as intentional camera movement, lens manipulation, and prolonged exposure to expand how a photograph can be experienced. His work invites viewers to engage through perception rather than detail. Santos was selected to present The Spirit of Dance at the 2018 Utah Arts Festival. His photography has received recognition from the International Color Awards, Monochrome Photography Awards, and Prix de la Photographie Paris, including inclusion in the ICA Professional Winners Book in 2024 and 2025. His work has been exhibited in the United States and internationally and is held in private collections. |
