Title:Difference
Drawing on my experience of living with a family secret as a child, my series “A/Part” moves from pain to surviving to thriving. It opens with the turmoil of realizing I am different from others.
Biography:
Rachel Nixon is a British-Canadian fine art photographer – and former journalist – living and working in Vancouver, Canada.
Inspired by the potential of natural forms to offer unexpected perspectives, she uses strategies such as abstraction, fragmentation and multiple exposure to bring these to the viewer’s attention. In her practice, she also develops constructed realities exploring themes such as secrecy, isolation, and a desire for connection with the outside world. Throughout her work runs a deep appreciation for colour and structure.
