Title:Speak No Evil
The photo was taken at the famed Jigokudani Monkey Park in Japan. The species is the Japanese macaque, otherwise known as the snow monkey. I had envisioned obtaining photos of the monkeys in the ice and snow, but there was little snow and so I watched for opportunities to get in close. When this macaque put its hand over its mouth in a very human-like gesture, I know that I had the image that I desired.

Biography:
I am a practicing small animal veterinarian who began to photograph wildlife about twelve years ago. My interest started in seeing the animals and then grew into photography as I saw the photos that others were taking on trips. I am increasingly finding ways to be more creative in my photography so that the images are artistic and not merely representational. |
