Honorable Mention Title:Sandstorm In The Duna "Sandstorm in the Duna," speaks of man's lonely struggle to exist despite all obstacles. A Bedouin boy marches through a raging sandstorm toward a range of mountains, cast in a cold blue suggesting the unknown future, everyone's destiny, while the warm beige of the sand his feet seem to float upon evokes the familiar. Though he is followed by a loyal dog, also with arm raised over the eyes against the wind, the dog also uses him as a windbreaker, all in the natural order. The dog's gesture of paw over nose lends veracity to the universal battle against the elements. As the Bedouin dispense with belongings and carry only their communal memory, so the elements of the photograph are distilled to the essentials.
